Mitchell officially joined Urban Network in 2004 as Vice President of Business Development, where he was responsible for bringing in a number of sales-sponsorship and branding opportunities. He launched Urban Network Digital in 2008, a news site and online platform for independent labels and aspiring artists. Mitchell was instrumental in taking the Urban Network conferences on the road; expanding into markets such as Memphis, Seattle, Miami and once again, San Diego.

Mitchell currently publishes a respected music industry quarterly magazine titled, Music Industry Quarterly. Now in its 7thyear, the publication targets Urban professionals, and features articles focused on music industry execs, songwriters, producers, recording artists, and more. Mitchell was with Urban Network Magazine (1993-2009); namely as VP/ Managing Editor, and one of the conference coordinators.

Starting his career in 1995, DJ Artistic threw Apollo-style events called “The Breakthrough.” He brought up-and-coming DJs and MCs to the stage to showcase their skills in front of large crowds. These events eventually created a buzz about DJ Artistic’sskills and established a strong reputation for him in the music business as a man who cares about the music community.
Lin Woods, Producer, Conference Gospel Music Day
Lin Woods is the Gospel and Family Entertainment Editor and Gospel Conference Producer at Urban Network Digital, a post she has held for two decades. Additionally, she is the president of Lin. Woods Inspired Media, LLC, a faith-based media company. Having honed her craft first in radio, as a syndicated radio host, reporter and producer, Woods worked at Clear Channel Radio (iHeart Radio) and syndicated shows Inside Gospel (reached an audience of 5-10 million internationally) and Inspired Entertainment Reports (ABC Radio Networks). Currently based in St. Louis, Missouri, Woods’ holds a Masters Degree in New Media Journalism from Full Sail University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Fisk University.

Leonard J. Thompson III has been in the music industry for over 35 years as a record executive, promoter and manager. Mr. Thompson’s passion for music with positive lyrics and life-changing messages, fuels his vision to think outside the box of the entertainment industry to help artists develop their own unique sound. As President & CEO of M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc., Mr. Thompson has made a tremendous impact on the Christian and Jazz music communities. From brand marketing, radio programming, television and video production, his team at M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Team has entered a new era of representing that Southern California style with a Diego groove.
Melissa Pyne, Conference Event Coordinator
Melissa Pyne has been working in the music industry since 2013, helping independent artists with artist development, branding, social media, radio campaigns and management. She joined Urban Network Digital in 2015 as Publicist, shortly after she started working closely with President of Urban Network Digital, Arthur Mitchell and has since been one of the conference event coordinators.

Classic currently works as a Publicist of Classic PR, which includes entertainment PR, event production, and sponsorship. She also works on the production team for The Urban Network Digital’s Business of Music Conference. She has spent over ten years working in the corporate sector, social media and PR.
